Masters of Ceremony

A Stewart Christie & Co. Film

Masters of Ceremony, a documentary about the history behind Stewart Christie and the archival pieces in our collection.

There are times when we need to look back to recognise how far we have progressed, and how so many of the values of the past are now more relavent than ever, today. To recognise the talents of Edinburgh's style cognoscente and celebrate Scotland's oldest bespoke tailors; Stewart Christie and Co. Ltd joined forces with: Model Team , Scotstreetstyle , VisitScotland , Location Scotland , Boom Barbers , Molly SheridanMUA , Tara Nowy , the Biscuit Factoryand HeeHaw to bring together the finer elements of what style and heritage mean in Scotland. To recognise the talents of the tailoring of the past; Stewart Christie and Co. presented a selection of regimental and formal dress garments, some dating back to the 1860's.

This gathering of like minds was to create an exhibition showcasing the talents of those who endeavour to create and inspire through their craft and passion for Scotland. Whilst showcasing the archive of deconstructed tailoring, the cast aimed to balance the old with the new spreading the message to a younger audience showing the importance of keeping the traditional trades alive by recognising and promoting that quality far outweighs quantity, something which is all but forgotten in an instant world where fashions change at the blink of an eye, in a world where craft is appreciated, but often undervalued. The aim was to bring together like minds under one roof to create a portrait - a snap shot in time if you like, of Scottish talent inspired by a proud heritage.
